Summer Explorations with Quest Forward Academy Omaha

Expand your horizons and sharpen those real-world skills.

6th, 7th, and 8th graders across the Omaha Metro area will try on hats as filmmakers, coders, archeologists, detectives, and more when they participate in week-long, hands-on camps this June hosted by Quest Forward Academy.

Make the most of the summer with your choice of exciting, thought-provoking, skill-centric sessions designed to help prepare your middle schoolers for their next steps.

They’ll see our “Forward-Thinking” High School in action and get to know mentors (teachers) in a fun, welcoming environment.

June 12 | June 19

Outdoor Education

June 12-15, 2023

Students will spend time outdoors learning how to set up tents, start fires, cook food, and more. This course will be primarily outdoors and require physical exertion such as hiking and light building. Students will also learn how to identify different plants, how to bait/lure a fishing line, and more. This is a great opportunity for students to learn how to solve problems in nature!

Geology

June 12-15, 2023

Students will learn how to identify different minerals and learn the practices and principles of introductory geology. They will examine our world and the material preservation of our world’s past.

Graphic Design/Marketing

June 19-22, 2023

Learn the skills to successfully market a business, product, or service. In this course students will learn how to use Krita, a graphic design program, to create advertisements, website tools, and many other useful graphics. Students will also learn about marketing strategies to promote their advertisements!

Robotics

June 19-22, 2023

Get ready to plug in and power up! This course will immerse students in the basics of electronics and computer programming. Students will engage in problem solving to create circuits. They will also learn concepts like voltage and resistance as well as manipulate lights, sounds, and motors using digital and analog controls. They will combine these skills to program and build simple robots!

Film Making

June 19-22, 2023

Lights, camera, action! In this course, students will learn the ins and outs of storyboarding, script writing, and filmmaking. They will learn how effects, acting, and other pieces of filmmaking tell visual stories. While exploring the different roles in film production, students will write screenplays, act, and record a short film. Students will also learn about post-production efforts and even enjoy a screening of their film!

Crime Scene Forensics and Psychology

June 19-22

This camp combines the scientific analysis of crime scenes with the psychological study of criminology. Students will learn the basic concepts of Forensic Science by studying the chain of evidence, fingerprinting, DNA study, and more. Students will also study the psychological aspects that go into forensic exploration: interviewing witnesses, researching suspects, and more.

Entrepreneurship

June 12-15, 2023

Students will experience a look inside what it takes to become an entrepreneur. During this week, students will have the opportunity to create their own business plans, create a marketing plan and learn to communicate their ideas clearly.

Columbus Day (No School)

October 9 2023

School will be closed Monday, October 9, 2023 in observance of Columbus Day. Classes will resume on Tuesday, October 10th.

Parent-Mentor Conferences (Currently Enrolled Families)

October 13 2023, 10am - 4pm

This will be a short meeting between parents/guardians and their student’s mentors to discuss their student’s academic performance and experience at school. These meetings will help parents understand what their student is learning at school, their academic and social-emotional progress, and what parents/guardians can do to support them.

Veterans Day (No School)

November 10 2023

School will be closed Friday, November 10, 2023 in observance of Veterans Day. Classes will resume on Monday, November 13th.
